PaintBall Strategies

Be Unpredictable – Avoid creating habits that enemies will learn to recognize. Do not use the same tactic repeatedly.

Hit A Hard Spot – When shooting an opponent, you want the paintball to break in order to eliminate the player. Hitting a hard surface of the body increases the chances of paint splatter. Aim for the head, elbows, knees, shoes, and gear. If you are trying a head shot, avoid hitting the enemy’s neck, as well as the eye area, as this may cause injury.

Use Suppression and Invasion –Using the suppression and invasion strategy, you should divide your team into a suppression team, and an invasion team. Suppression is the art of keeping the enemy occupied, in order for other members of your team to invade. Trap the enemy, and force them to keep their heads down with suppression fire, enabling other members of your team to move in on the flag or to get past the group you are holding down. The invasion team must be able to move quietly and get to a position where they can do the most damage, to the largest number of enemy players, at one time.

Be Aggressive – Do not wait for an attack – make an attack.

Communicate with your team – Work out hand signals, sounds, and words that you can use during game play to communicate. Use radio headsets whenever possible. Keep each other up to date on enemy location; coordinate your movements and your attacks.

Provide Your Own Cover Fire – When moving from one barrier to another, provide your own fire by firing in the direction you suspect the enemy is hiding. Force them to keep their heads down while you run.

Move Quietly – Make as little noise as possible, and you will have the element of surprise on your side. Wear soft-soled shoes, make sure your equipment does not make any noise while you are moving, and avoid wearing clothing that makes noise when you move. Move slowly if possible. The faster you move, the more noise you will make.

Crawl – If you only need to move a short distance, crawl, do not walk or run. You will be less likely to be noticed. You should also crawl around inside your bunker to change positions. Avoid crawling like a baby. You want to crawl with your body very low to the ground, using your forearms and the tips of your toes.

Know When To Retreat – You must pay attention to the situation you are in and figure out what your odds are. It is better to retreat and regroup than it is to get paint on you. If possible, retreat as a group with your team. Fire at the enemy while retreating if possible. You may even retreat (slowly) for the sole purpose of leading the opponent into a trap.

Have a Plan – Work with your team and come up with a plan before the game starts. Assign positions and special teams. Give everyone a job, and make sure that they know that what that job is.

Fake It – If you run out of paint, or your gun breaks, do not let the enemy know that. Act like you can still fire. This will keep the enemy busy for a while. When it stops working, be prepared to offer yourself as a sacrifice to help other members of your team accomplish a goal.
